Christmas Time

I simply love Christmas time. Everyone puts up their Christmas tree, put lights around their houses, go Christmas shopping, and all those other things.

We don't put Christmas lights around our house, but we have a big Christmas that we decorate with lights, tinsel, and lots of different decorations. Everyone loves it when we put up our Christmas tree.

Every year a few nights before Christmas we all go for a drive after dinner and look at all the Christmas lights.

On Christmas eve, we go to our church for the Christmas eve service, where Grace, Elise and I play Christmas carols for the church. When we get home and get ready for bed, we make jokes I make jokes with my two brothers that in the middle of the night we'll get up and open our presents to see what we've got, then rap them up again as if we never even touched them.
On Christmas morning, all our brothers and sisters ( apart from Elise) get up really early to look at all the presents under the Christmas tree, though we try really hard not to look at the tags, otherwise depending on who it's for, we try and guess what it is.
Then finally once our mum, dad and Elise a out of bed, we open all the presents. Then we have bacon and eggs for breakfast. For the rest of the day we enjoy our presents or go down to our grand parents house and spend the day there.
So that is what we do at Christmas time.

Cricket

Grace and I play cricket as a summer sport. We played last year, and our team was hopeless. We only won one game. We have a better team this year though. We play in the u/12s age group.

Each game goes for two weeks, each team gets a 40 over innings. We have twenty over innings each Saturday. Our neighbour plays on our team and his dad coaches the team.

Another rule in the u/12s cricket is you need to retire in the first innings to be able to bat in the second innings.(Unless you don't get a bat in the first innings)  You either have to get 25 runs or bat for 10 overs to retire. I have retired in every game. I have only taken two wickets this season, but I'm not a bad blower.

Australia has good cricket team too, one of the best in  the world.

The Phantom Tollbooth

Lately I have been reading "The Phantom Tollbooth" by Norton Juster. It is about a boy called Milo who finds everything boring and a waste of time, he finds a parcel in his room which he open and it becomes a tollbooth and a car, he drives through the tollbooth with his car and.....I won't tell you any more if you want to read it.
I would give the book a 4/5 stars. I recommend you read it

Little house on the prairie

My family love the TV series made in 1974 called "Little House On The Prairie" It is based on a girl called Laura. we have brought every season up to seven. They are very different to the books but they are such a great family movie.

Most of it is directed by Micheal Landon who plays Pa, Karen Grassle as Ma, Mellissa Sue Anderson as Mary, Melissa Gilbert as Laura, and Sideny Greenbush as Carrie.

We are in the middle of season seven, so far it has all been great.

Dust storm

On Wednesday we had a dust storm come through from the bottom of NSW. It was horrible, I had to stay inside due to my asthma. It was really weird because everything look orange and the sun and it's light was blue, it all just looked weird. But in away it was quite fun.

These are pictures from Sydney.

As you can see from the pictures it was pretty bad. Although it wasn't as bad where we live as it was in Sydney. We have already had another dust storm since Wednesday.

Hockey

I play hokey for a winter sport along with my twin sister. We both play on the same team. We play on a girls only team. We play with a public school. The girls on the team are really nice.

I have been captain twice and so has my twin sister. I have only scored one goal in the whole season, though my twin sister has scored three. I play a half and my twin sister either plays a wing or a inner.

I play field hockey. This season is my first hockey season and from what I have heard I am doing pretty well. This week is the semi finals, and if we win we go straight through to the grand final. Our team is second on the ladder. The team we are versing are on top of the ladder.

Hockey, I find, is a very fast game, each half is twenty-five minutes and we get about a four minute brake.

If we make it to the grand final I will let you all know.

Narnia

My family love the books of Narnia by C.S Lewis. We also love the movies. We've seen "The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe" and  "Prince Caspian".

I love both the movies. They were both done by Disney, but when they finished Prince Caspian, Disney said that they weren't going too make any more of movies because they weren't making enough money from it. I was so angry because the next book is one of the best. Anyway, later on, 20th century fox said that they would make the movies. They are still working on the Voyage Of The Dawn Treader. Here are some pics.

This is the prow of the Dawn Treader

The Dawn Treader

There's still a bit of work to be done, but I think it looks pretty good so far. What do you think?

Home schooling

I quite like being homeschooled. Although you do have your advantages and your disadvantages, such as you don't have as many friends when your home schooled as when you go to school, or you often don't meet as many people around your age as you would when you go to school.

But there lots of advantages too; first you don't need to go to school and  you get more time with your Mum or Dad (who ever teaches you at home) or like how we do it at home, you have a certain amount of work to do, and when you have done it all you get the rest of the day off.

With homeschooling we also do a lot of history learning. My favourite subject would be Maths or history. I hate Spelling and English. We also have a stack of books to do with learning.

Another good thing about homeschooling is that there is no homework.

Everyone has there own school books ,and we all sit in and listen to the history lesson. Another good thing about homeschooling is that if we want to go and visit our grandparents or go wherever, we don't need to worry about school, we just have the day off.

I also really like having all my brothers and sisters all togther in the same room instead of them all in different class rooms.

Also, being homeschooled you get ask a lot of questions like "Do you get too eat when ever you want too"? Or "Can you do your school work in your PJs"? But really I don't see much difference between kids who go to school and kids that are homeschooled.

Really I think that the only difference is that we just do our school work at home.

If you have any questions just leave a comment.

Diabolo

Most people, I find, don't know what a Diabolo is. Whenever I take it to church, my friends are always asking me what the name is (because they have forgotten) and how I do it, and lots of other questions.

The actual Diabolo is like what they call a butterfly shaped yoyo. Then there are these two sticks with string tied to them.

I also find most people don't know how hard it is to use a Diabolo. At first when I got my Diabolo, well I must say I was hopeless at it. The novelty of it wore of for a while, but lately I have been using it a lot. I was also amazed at how many things you can do with a Diabolo. Although I can only do about ten tricks.

My brother and I have really been getting into Diabolo these last few months. My Brother is really good at it too.

BBC Robin Hood

I am a big fan of the BBC Robin Hood. I have seen season one and two and I am desperate to see season three. My big sister said that the BBC have finished showing season three in the UK, but we don't know when it will be in Australia

But in the end of season two, Sir Guy of Gisborne kills maid Marian. I think she was killed because the actor was leaving the series. Jonas Armstrong plays Robin hood and Lucy Griffiths plays maid Marian. The series is not very close to the tale of Robin Hood. Like in the third series, my big sister said that Sir Guys sister comes to Nottingham and they finally bring Friar Tuck in to the series. And there is also going to be a new girl called Kate. So it isn't that close to the tale really. But I still really like it.

Our New Roof

Two or three weeks ago we were having a new roof put on our house. The roof was only finished a few days ago because we had some rain which delayed it a bit.

It was rather noisy when the work men were here, they'd come at 7:30 am and leave at 4:00 pm. So the noisy was on and off all day really, apart from when they had lunch and morning tea. But in ways it was kind of fun seeing the workmen work and seeing how they did things. At one stage we thought that they might fall though the ceiling. Most of the time my little brother and I would sneak down stairs and watch the workmen when we were meant to be doing schoolwork (shhhh).

The workmen would drop nails and screws while they were working, and every afternoon when the workmen had left my little brother would race out the front and pick up as many nails or screws as he could find. Then he would and hide them because our Mum said that we would get 20c for every nail or screw we found.

So it has been quite busy these last few weeks. It was also hard to go out during the day because the workmen either had stuff on the driveway, or you see when the workmen came they closed of the front yard so we had to ask the workmen to open the orange netting so we could go to the shops or go wherever we needed to go.

Now I'm glad it's all over because now we can sleep in "YAY!"

Seven Little Australians

Lately I have been reading Ethel Turner's Seven little Australians. I was quite suprised by how much I liked it. But I just can't like the fact on how cruel their father Captain Woolcot is to his children and that Judy dies (sigh). I have not quite finished the book, but I only have a few chapters to go.

Now that I'm reading the book I am desperate to get the "Seven little Australians TV series" but I just can't seem to find anywhere that sells it or has it to rent. I would also like to read the sequels so I will have to borrow them from someone.

My big sister Elise runs a book club and they were reading the book and I ask Elise if I could read the book, she said that I could and I have not given it back since.

A bit about me

Well I am the sort of person who likes pretty much everything. Sometimes I like to dare myself to do crazy things and somtimes I don't feel like doing anything. Somtimes I might be having a great time playing with my twin sister Grace and then the next minute I might be so angry with her (for some reason) that I don't want to even talk to her.
